Access to Electronic Journals
The ICTP Library is subscribed to the on-line versions of many journals, allowing you to download the full text of articles in PDF format. Please take note of the following:
Prerequisites
- You must be using a computer inside the ICTP network. If you are somewhere else, check if you are eligible to register to the electronic Journals Delivery Service instead.
- Your web browser must be configured to use the ICTP web proxy server, which is
proxy.ictp.it
and uses port number3128
. See also this page
Once your browser is configured correctly, when you try to view or download the first PDF file, you will be asked to enter username and password of your ICTP account. This is necessary in order to make sure that you are not exceeding the following:
Limitations
Electronic Journals may be used only in a way similar to how you use printed journals. This means that you should only read one article at a time. Massive downloads are not permitted.
For this reasons the downloads of each user are logged. If you exceed the limits (20 downloads in every 5 minutes, 300 every month) no further access will be granted to you. Please note that it makes no difference whether you actually read the article or just look at the first page to find out that you don't need it.
