Filter spam in webmail

If you are using the web interface (https://www.ictp.trieste.it/webmail/) to our mail server, here is how to set up a filter:

  • If you don't have a spam folder yet, click on Folders, write spam into the entry field and click on Create.
  • If you have created the spam folder from another program, like Pine, and it does not show up in the folder list on the left then you have to subscribe it: click on Folders, select the spam folder in the list window on the right-hand side of the Unsubscribe/Subscribe section and click on the Subscribe button.
  • Click on Options.
  • In the Options window, click on Message Filters.
  • Click on New.
  • Match: should be Header, Contains: should be X-ASICTP-MailScanner-SpamScore: sssss and Move to: some folder, e.g. spam if it is there (see first two items of this instruction list).
  • Click on Submit
  • You should see the following filtering rule:
If Header contains X-ASICTP-MailScanner-SpamScore: sssss then move to spam
  • Now you can return to your INBOX and the filter should already be doing its job.
