- The modern theory of materials, based on the quantum theory of solids and powerful computational methods, makes it possible to apply the theoretical concepts to realistic situations. My research activity, in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics, focuses on ab initio study of structural, electronic and optical properties of materials surfaces, interfaces and nanocrystals using various codes like Quantum-Espresso, Abinit, Yambo etc. Methods are mainly based on the popular Density Functional Theory(DFT), both with all-electron, localized basis and pseudo-potential plane waves approaches. Excited properties methods rely on Time Dependent (TD) DFT, and Many Body Perturbation Theory based techniques including GW, BSE. I am interested in using these computational and theoretical tools to address societal needs, such as the development of novel materials for efficient solar energy conversion or for better energy storage devices.
