I was born in Trieste in 1970, before the word "multimedia" was invented, when "telecommunications" meant "phone calls", and the effort behind the making of Walt Disney movies was measured in "hundreds of cartoonists working for months" instead of "months of CPU time on a some hundred nodes cluster"...

Following a family tradition, I studied classical and sociological subjects and very soon I got fascinated by Information Technology and its high impact on our society.

My first experiences with computers and multimedia were related to the world of congresses, where I started working in the late eighties, a period when the old-fashioned slide and overhead projectors were being replaced by computers and beamers. Soon my passion for technology and communications became my job.

After several different experiences in some very heterogeneous environments (from congress organization to software developing and web design; I also worked as a sound engineer in some theaters, where I had the privilege to meet fantastic persons like Vittorio Gassman and Mariangela Melato), the path of high-tech took me to the ICTP, where I finally found what I was looking for. A place where people from different countries work together for the development of the whole of mankind. I will do my best to deserve the honor of working here, thus contributing in my own little way to Professor Salam's wonderful initiative and Professor Quevedo's pursuit of it.
