Main Lecture Hall

Main Lecture Hall

With a maximum seating capacity of 264, it is the largest lecture hall at the ICTP. It is located at the Leonardo da Vinci Building, ground floor.

The phone extension for this room is 432 (+39 040 2240432 from outside the ICTP); to call for technical assistance please dial 199.

Standard equipment

LCD Projectors

Two ceiling mounted DLP projectors are available for double (a different image on each screen) or single (same image on both screens) projection. If you plan to connect your own laptop, please note that the recommended resolution is XGA (1024x768) while the maximum resolution is SXGA (1280x1024 in compressed mode); the recommended frequency range is 60-75 Hz


Personal Computer

A computer running both Linux and Windows XP Professional can be used to show your presentations.

Using your own laptop

A spare VGA connector is available in order to connect your own portable computer to the room projectors. Please see the "LCD Projectors" chapter above for recommended video settings. The presentation device described in the previous paragraph will work only as a laser pointer when presentations are shown using your own computer.

Please Note: in order to connect your laptop to our projectors, you need a standard VGA socket. If your computer requires any adapter, please make sure to carry it with you.

Document Camera

The document camera allows you to show transparencies, printed matter and small objects through the LCD projectors. An additional document camera is available on request to allow double projection (different images on each one of the two screens)


Microphones

Five cord microphones are available on the desk and two ones are part of the lecturers podium. More microphones can be added on request (please see the following chapter for more information about additional microphones)

please be sure to book in advance the additional equipment that you might need; all requests are subject to availability


Additional Microphones

Two handheld radiomicrophones and two tie-clip radiomicrophones are available on request.


Additional Document Camera

A second document camera can be installed on request in order to show separate documents (plain paper or transparencies) on each one of the two screens.

 

Audio Recording

Audio can be recorded on request  in digital format. Recordings, in mp3 format, are usually available the next day.
