DATA WAY IN ARGENTINA

ICTP recently returned to Latin America to organise the Second Latin American Course on Data Acquisition and Filtering in San Luis, Argentina. Funding for the course was provided by the World Bank, United Nations University and National University of San Luis (UNSL). The Head of the ICTP Microprocessor Laboratory, Alberto Colavita, who is also a Professor of Physics at UNSL, was the course director. He was joined by Dr. Andres Cicuttin, ICTP Research Scientist, who served as a laboratory supervisor. Thirty young Latin American researchers attended the course. Each participant spent more than 60 in-class hours learning about the theories that lie behind the science of data collection. In addition, each devoted more than 100 hours to laboratory work, gaining the technical skills that are essential for those seeking a career in this increasingly complex field. The course was taught in Spanish.
