SCIENCE IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES


The InterAcademy Panel and Third World Academy of Sciences, whose secretariats are located on ICTP's campus, will host a workshop on capacity building for science academies in countries with predominantly Muslim communities on 5-7 March in the Giambiagi Lecture Hall on the lower level 1 of the Adriatico Guesthouse. The workshop will conclude with a one-day symposium examining science, religion and values. Those scheduled to attend include Atta-ur-Rahman, chair, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan; Bruce Alberts, president, US National Academy of Sciences; and Abdulaziz O. Altwaijri, director general, Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). For additional information, contact iap@twas.org.
