Set up an e-mail program
Settings for receiving and sending e-mail
To configure Thunderbird, you only have to provide your name, e-mail address and password when prompted.
If you want to use another e-mail client, set it up as follows:
- To receive ICTP mail, create an IMAP account in your mail program using
imap.ictp.it
as host name and your usual login as user name, SSL enabled, port 993, normal password authentication. - To send mail from your ICTP account, the hostname is
smtp.ictp.it
. Use STARTTLS over port 587 with normal password authentication.
If you are at the ICTP then to send e-mail you cannot use port 25, not even for non-ICTP servers. If you have an external e-mail account set up with port 25, consult that provider's documentation or IT staff for possible SSL/TLS setups using ports 465 or 587.
