Application Procedure
All applicants must come from and be working in a scientific institute in a developing country. Awards given to scientists who move to an advanced country will be suspended or cancelled.
Prospective candidates should complete the application form, adding any other information they deem useful and send it to the Associate Scheme Office by the end of September. An Associateship Selection usually takes place at the end of each year..
Candidates must provide complete and up-to-date details of their scientific publications (precise reference to journal, volume and page number are essential) specifying and numbering clearly in separate lists the following:
- Refereed journals
- Proceedings
- Internal reports
- Others
NB/ Do not list papers submitted for publication or papers in preparation.
Candidates should request two senior scientists (preferably from an institute other than their own) who are well acquainted with their work to send a recommendation letter in support of their application to Professor G.C. Ghirardi, Head of the Office of Associate & Federation Schemes; they should reach us, in any case, by the end of September.
NB/ Applicants who do not state clearly their date of birth will not be considered.
When appointed, Junior Associates must not be older than 35 and Regular Associates between 36 and 45. The upper limit for Senior Associateships is 62 and with no lower limit when a specific request is made to become a Senior Associate. All candidates must choose only one option.
Female applicants may opt to avail of the age benefit: 2 years plus 1.5 years for each child she has may be added to the above limits.
Applications should be typed or written clearly in black ink. If more space is required, please attach additional pages. E-mailed and faxed applications are acceptable.
Updatings will be processed once per year and should reach the Associate Scheme Office by 30 September of each year. Please note that it is not necessary to submit another completed application form: only new information/publications should be communicated.
The deadline for applications and/or updatings is 30 September of each year. Applications for Associate Membership are valid for two years from the date of the last updating.
Incomplete applications or applications which do not comply with the requested format will not be considered.
